"Neighbor Bucks" also provide you an excellent tracking mechanism to help determine the effectiveness of your campaign.
Colorado Neighbors is not only beautiful in its design, but also interesting in its content. Our monthly "Neighborhood" articles, such as our "From Your Neighbors Kitchen," promote not only product loyalty, but also community participation in the magazine content. The goal is simple: Create, by design, a vehicle which encourages multiple "looks" as well as maximum shelf-life. To us, it's all about the results.

Applications: We accept the following Mac documents for output (Windows files will be converted to Mac format).
- Quark Xpress (Mac)
- Adobe Photoshop EPS/TIFF
- Adobe Illustrator EPS
- High-Res (300dpi) PDF
Documents created in the following programs are not acceptable:
- Microsoft Publisher
- Microsoft Word
- CorelDraw
- Microsoft Powerpoint
- All other applications not listed here
Images, Scans, Logos & Artwork: Need to be scanned or created at 300 dpi and saved as TIF or EPS. NO JPEG images will be accepted. NO Pantone/PMS or RGB colors. All images provided on disk must be in CMYK format. Please make sure that process separation is checked for all process color builds. Black and white scans should be saved as grayscale.
Fonts: All printer and screen fonts must be included with the CD or stuffed with the files uploaded to the ftp site. Use stylized fonts - DO NOT use menu-styled fonts for bold, italic, or bold italic type. All fonts used in art files must be converted to outlines. Type 1 fonts are recommended for the best results. DO NOT use system fonts.
You will need to have an FTP client installed on your computer in order to send Colorado Neighbors your advertisement files. If you do not have FTP software installed already, you can get one for free using the links provided.

Anonymous logins are welcome at the Colorado Neighbors FTP, you may upload files for your ad to the INCOMING folder, however you will not be able to see these files once they have been uploaded. This is to provide privacy and security to our neighbors' businesses. If you would like to advertise with Colorado Neighbors Magazine, at your request, we would be happy to provide you with a secure login and personal folder on our FTP site.
1) Know your audience.
Always gear your ad to the needs and tastes of your readers. Are they everyday consumers? Upscale young professionals? Hard-boiled buyers with a bottom-line mentality? Executives in your field? Your ad style should suit the audience you're addressing, but all copy should be crips and clear and have friendly and extroverted tone. Do a little informal research to learn what interests your prospects. Call some customers and potential customers and ask them about their needs and concerns.
2) Position your product or service.
How is it different from or superior to the competition? What do you offer that the competition doesn't? Positioning is critical if you want to develop a successful marketing strategy in a competitive situation.
3) Grab their attention.
Use your headline to generate interest in your product or service immediately. Don't be afraid of long headlines - they work!
4) Talk benefits, benefits, benefits - not features.
This is the most important part of your ad. Always focus on what your product or service will do for the customer. For instance, think of a pencil; the eraser is a feature. The benefit of the eraser is that it's easy to correct mistakes.
5) Show the product.
Photographs add visual interest to your ad and are more effective than illustrations. Show the product in use, if possible.
6) Create a focal point.
One large picture is better than several small photos. Make your photograph large and clear to show details, without sacrificing the size of your copy.
7) Make your ad easy to read.
If the customer has to work to read your copy, he/she won't read it. Pick a good, readable type face. Don't use all capital letters. Use italics sparingly. And especially avoid reverse type (white type on a black background) - it really limits readability.
8) Keep it simple.
Use short, common words (say "get," for example, instead of "receive"). Keep sentences short (10 words or less) and break copy into short paragraphs. The added white space invites readership.
9) Make it easy to buy.
If you accept credit cards, say so. Tell your customers what the product costs. Don't forget to include your address too.
10) Ask for the order.
Announce a reason why a customer should take time out of his/her busy schedule to visit your store. Now is not the time to be shy. Just adding the words, "Call today!" can increase your response.
